The Junior Hurricanes Tier I AAA program represents the highest competitive level of youth hockey for RYHA and USA Hockey. The Carolina Amateur Hockey Association granted RYHA Tier I status in 2007. Since that time, our program has attracted the area’s most talented and dedicated youth players. The Tier I AAA program requires a major commitment by players and parents, both financially and in terms of time. Because Tier I programs tend to be regional, this program involves significant travel.
Our Tier I Junior Hurricanes have competed against some of the top programs in the country and done very well. Many players are catching the eye of high level Junior and college scouts. A number of our players have advanced to the highest level Junior leagues in recent years.
This page is dedicated to keeping you informed of current news and events related to our Tier I AAA program.
Why the Carolina Junior Hurricanes?
The Carolina Junior Hurricanes have two primary objectives:
Develop our players to compete at the highest possible level, and
Promote our top players and assist in advancing them to the highest possible levels of youth, Junior and collegiate hockey.
To meet these objectives and provide our players the greatest opportunities, the Carolina Junior Hurricanes program:
Employs some of the area’s best and most experienced coaches.
Will recruit and select the best available players both locally and regionally in order to build the most competitive teams. As part of this commitment, RYHA has developed a billeting program and is promoting the program both inside and outside the local area.
Has player development as a key focus and component of our programs. Skills/player development will be a component of the program at every level. This includes both on and off ice development.
Coaches and player development staff will collaborate to tailor player development to the needs of the team.
Will utilize professional trainers for off-ice training.
Will participate in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL). The NAPHL is affiliated with the North American Hockey League, the Tier II Junior program in the United States. The NAPHL will provide:
Guaranteed scouting presence and exclusive NAHL tendering system for NAPHL players
Coordinator of Player Personnel dedicated to player advancement
Each player will receive a unique player profile featuring academic data and scouting information created for distribution to Junior and college coaches
Teams will attend tournament/showcase events in addition to NAPHL league events that will provide the greatest exposure to Junior and college scouts.
Will actively promote our top prospects. Our coaching staff will collaborate to provide the greatest access to their collective scouting networks and resources. Player profiles will be created for every Junior Hurricanes Midget AAA player that will be accessible by scouts from our website, complete with player picture and key statistics. The NAPHL will provide similar player profiles accessible from the league website. Player profile tri-folds will be made available to scouts at all league showcases and tournaments attended by the Junior Hurricanes.
